National French Contest 2010

The Test:
The National French Contest is a timed 60 minute test. It is the only national French exam offered and is open to ALL students of French (including those who are home schooled or who study French through a private tutor). Any French teacher can have his/her students participate, even without AATF membership. The website (www.frenchteachers.org/concours/) contains a lot of handy information including what the test covers at each level and help with choosing student division. There is even a sample letter to send out to parents!

Contest Dates:
FLES - February 15-26, 2010
Secondary - March 1 - 28, 2010

Ordering the Test :
FLES student exams are $1.50 each for AATF members and $3 each for non-members.
Secondary student exams are $3 each for AATF members and $5 each for non-members.
CDs are $8 each level (FLES, 01, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) for members and non-members.

Teachers new to AATF this year may mail the voucher you received from national with your check to receive 10 free tests.

REGISTRATION DEADLINES:
FLES - January 31, 2010
Secondary - February 12, 2010

Each teacher should e-mail the CSES form (use either the Excel or the Word documents) but should mail the check or money order (one per school) and the order form to Becky Richards, 3010 Jacob Dr., Wylie, TX 75098. Please make the check or money order to AATF.

Administering the Test:
Teachers of French may not monitor their own students during the test, but may swap with another teacher and monitor his/her students.

After the Test is Administered:
FLES teachers must mail their answer sheets directly to the scoring center in KY with the self addressed envelopes provided with the FLES kits.

Secondary teachers must mail their answer sheets to Becky Richards (3010 Jacob Dr., Wylie, TX 75098.) Answer sheets must be mailed the day that the test is administered on your campus. They cannot be kept until a later time.

Only original answer sheets will be scored. No photocopies will be accepted. No previous answer sheets will be machine scored. Make sure that all exam answer sheets are turned the same way and that no paper clips or staples are used. You do not need to separate by level or division.
