President - Barbara Gilbert

Barbara Fatheree Gilbert is starting her 36th year in education and her 31st year at Carrollton's R.L.Turner High School. She holds a B.A. in French from Oklahoma State University, an M.A. in French from Middlebury College with a year at the Sorbonne, and two years of PhD. work and experience as a T.A. at the University of Oklahoma. Barbara joined AATF in 1977 at the invitation of Fran Maples. She has received an AATF scholarship to Avignon and two travel grants, which took her to Québec and St. Martin. Barbara looks forward to working with this year's officers.

Laurel Springer Mayo is a long time member of the North Texas chapter also having served a previous term as Treasurer.  Currently the Supervising Coordinator of Curriculum and Training in Distance Learning at Tarrant County College, she has taught French at both the high school and university levels and continues to be involved with students of French as an external examiner for Drake University.  She encourages chapter members to apply for summer scholarships through AATF having herself been the happy recipient of grants to study in Lyon and Paris.  The reason for her long affiliation with the North Texas Chapter is simply that the members are such a delightful group of dedicated professionals.
  Vice President of Special Events - Megan Diercks

Megan Diercks is currently serving as vice president of special events. She teaches French at Flower Mound High School, where she also sponsors French Club and leads student trips to France. Megan holds a B.A. in French, German and Secondary Education from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and an M.A. in French from UNT. Some of her goals for this year include increasing participation at the French Business Symposium and adding new and exciting events to the Fête Française. Megan, her husband Dave, and their three fish live happily in Flower Mound.
  Treasurer - Becky Lee

Becky Lee is serving as treasurer. She currently teaches at Marcus High School in Flower Mound. She holds a B.A. in French from Oberlin College and an M.A. in French from the University of North Texas where she was a teaching fellow mentored by Dr. Vidrine. Becky enjoys accompanying students to France which she has done through school and through the Children's International Summer Villages program. Her goals as Treasurer are to encourage colleagues to join the AATF, to participate in AATF events, and to facilitate these processes.
 

NFC Administrator - Becky Fields-Riley Richards

Becky is currently a full-time French teacher at Wylie East High School. This is her fifth year in Wylie ISD, where she has taught Communications Applications, English 2, and. French I-IV. In addition to her teaching career, Richards has fifteen years leadership experience in the IT industry as an independent consultant and contractor. Richards is currently pursuing a M.A. in French via the French Summer Institute at the University of North Texas. She and her husband Miguel live in Wylie with their three four-legged children. They are expecting their first two-legged daughter this fall.

  Webmaster - Gail Corder

Gail Corder teaches French and is Director of Educational Technology at Trinity Valley School in Fort Worth, where she has taught for 26 years. She holds a B.A. in French from UTA and an M.Ed. Educational Administration and Technology from TCU. Gail welcomes any suggestions for improving the web site and making it a helpful tool for French teachers.
