The Great Fire of Rome |

Aftermath |
After the fire, Nero immediately began to rebuild Rome. He instituted many new building codes so that it would be less likely for there to be another great fire. The streets were now made of stone and marble. Also the rubble left from the fire was used to fill swamps that had been previously ridden with malaria. The new Rome was even more spectacular than before. And the Rome that exists now is built over old Rome. |
