The Roman military made many of the first real medical advances. They discovered new techniques for curing patients. The military learned more about human anatomy by looking at wounded soldiers ailments. They began to adopt the medical ideas of the countries they conquered. The military resulted in the formation of hospitals. There had to be a separate place for the wounded soldiers to go to have a doctor tend to their wounds. So, they designated an area for the doctors place. |
